Here are some tips from Royal Life Saving Society on how you can stay safe in the water.
💦 Enrol in swimming lessons
💦 Supervise children
💦 Check pool fences
💦 Avoid having alcohol and drugs around water
💦 Wear a lifejacket

Drowning prevention
Drowning is the process of being unable to breathe usually as a result of liquid entering the lungs.
How to recognise a person drowning
Head is low in the water, with their mouth at water level
Head is tilted back with their mouth opening and closing
Bobbing up and down at water line with their body vertical
First aid management for drowning
Remove from the water
Send for help and plan a safe rescue
Call 000 for all casualties involved in a drowning incident
If unresponsive, assess the person on their back, unless there is an obvious obstruction
If unresponsive and not breathing, start CPR
